How to Keep your House Clean living with Pets

Every pet owner knows that having pets inside the house, and keeping it clean, is a great challenge. No matter how often you clean if you don’t keep up certain habits it will be hard to maintain a clean home.

We have some tips for you to help you keep your house clean with pets inside!

1. Get a handy vacuum that is good for hair cleaning

No matter what breed is your pet, it’s important to vacuum regularly. Besides hair, they carry dirt and leaves from outside, not only in their paws but also in the fur. There are plenty of vacuum options. We like to use a robot vacuum that cleans while we are away or sleeping.

2. Brush your pet’s hair regularly

Brushing your pet’s hair regularly helps not only to avoid dirt from coming in and spreading through the house but it also keeps your pet healthy. It’s a good idea to brush your pet at least three times a week.

3. Get a Professional Grooming Hair Cut

Having the right haircut for your pet’s breed is important, as every dog and cat is different.  They have varying fur and hair which each needs special care, a good haircut, in general, takes all the extra hair and keeps your pet clean for a while. Proper grooming can go a long way in reducing shedding.

4. Wipe your pet’s paws

A good quality mat is important to keep by the entrance (if you don’t have a mudroom) for when our pet comes into the house. Keep it outside the house and a washable throw rug inside the door. You can train your dog to wipe their feet, plus just passing on these two items will also help reduce mud, dirt and hair.

5. Keep their nails trimmed

We always recommend trimming your pet’s nails when grooming (or in between grooms) for health reasons. Short nails also help to avoid damaging hardwood floors, scratched leather, and punctured upholstery.
